Medical Care System

Korean hospitals and clinics are generally well-equipped with modern medical technology. Many institutions now offer services tailored to foreign patients, including interpretation services.

Three Levels of Care

  1. Primary Care โ€” Public health centers and community health centers for general diagnostics
  2. Secondary Care โ€” Hospitals with 4+ departments and 30โ€“500 beds
  3. Tertiary Care โ€” General/university hospitals with 500+ beds and specialists in all fields
To see a specialist at a tertiary hospital, you need a referral from a primary or secondary institution. Without one, the initial consultation fee is much higher.

Major International Healthcare Centers

The following hospitals operate international clinics with multilingual staff (English, Chinese, Japanese, and more):

  1. Seoul National University Hospital โ€” 82-2-2072-0505
