How to Change Your Visa Status in Korea

Switching from a student visa to a work visa? Changing your status of stay requires prior approval from immigration.

๐Ÿ“‹ What Is a Status Change?

Allows you to engage in activities not permitted under your current visa. Apply before starting the new activity. Unauthorized activities: fine up to 30M KRW or deportation.

Immigration office with jurisdiction over your residence. Reserve at Hi-Korea.

  • Entered for group tourism
  • France, Ireland, UK citizens on C-3 tourism visa
  • Holders of D-3, E-9, E-10, H-2, G-1, or H-1 cannot change to D-8

  • Application form (Form 34)
  • Passport and photo
  • TB test (35 high-burden countries)
  • Eligibility proof for new status
  • Fee: 100,000 KRW

Exceptions only for minors under 17 or illness.
